Message from the Conference Chair
| Matt Stoffel, AIA Conference Chair |
We invite you to join us in Omaha, for the 2017 AIA NE Conference to be held at the Doubletree Downtown, October 5th and 6th. This years' annual Conference coincides with the 150th anniversary of Nebraska Statehood. It just so happens that we are also hosting the Central States Regional Design Awards and Student competition. Across our state and region, we will celebrate the combined efforts in architecture that continue a momentum of place and community.
Earlier this year, AIA National solidified the New Urban Agenda addressing guidelines for architects to champion resilient, sustainable, inclusive communities thru design. Our conference theme; Community Praxis, evolved from a common voice across these principles. Together we will learn from others, celebrate the achievements, and tour successful projects from diverse neighborhoods across Omaha.
We have asked John Carney, FAIA of Carney Logan Burke Architects and Joseph Biondo, FAIA of Spillman Farmer Architects to chair the Nebraska and Central States Regional Design Awards respectively. John will present the work of their practice at the conference and Joseph will present at the UNL College of Architecture's Hyde lecture series.
Please consider this an opportunity to engage and inspire your peers to strive for the betterment of design within your own community.
