A local bank wanted a new space that represents their individuality as a company by focusing on personal relationships with clients. They wanted to break the traditional banking experience by creating more intimate moments throughout the design. To exemplify the company’s values, the centrality of the reception desk became an idea opportunity to execute branding through design. The fluid surface represents the desire for the client to fit the needs of individuals while the lowered height simultaneously allows a more personal connection between teller and customer. The desk was constructed using laminated wood that was cut and shaped into shape.

Jury Comments: This project shows how a single element, when done right, can transform an otherwise mundane space. An elegant and creative deployment of traditional materials machined with technologies that offer the possibility of new aesthetics, design techniques and detailing possibilities.
