This 8,515 sf project is part of a multi-tenant redevelopment of a vacant building complex on a quarter block in the historic “Haymarket” warehouse district in Lincoln, Nebraska. The complex was originally built as a lumber store and in recent years was home to a millwork shop. This tenant space is primarily located in the 1944 addition to the lumber store that functioned as the parking and loading area. Initially, this part of the complex was slated by the developer to remain as covered tenant parking space. The architectural office that now occupies the space knew at first sight that this space would make an ideal design studio and was able to convince the developer accordingly.

Jury Comments: The understated approach to this renovation allows the purity of the original structure to read clearly. The location and quality of the display area provides a connection between everyone in the studio and the firm’s work in progress.
