EXTENDED USE / MERIT

Entry Name: Dundee Bank
Firm: The Architectural Offices
Owner: Dundee Bank
Photographer: Tom Kessler

The project began with two conflicting ideas of a small town Nebraska banker who wanted a dark leather club chaired space with images of Hereford cattle, and a strategic branding consultant report demonstrating that $.85 of every family’s dollar is controlled by a woman. The observation of the women’s role as financial supervisor, lead our design team to the idea of a “boutique bank.” Capitalizing on the building’s past life as the historic Buffett Grocery Store, the apple became a symbol of freshness, uniqueness and sophistication.

Jury Comments: The whole experience of banking has been rethought in this space. The layering of ideas contributes to a unique client experience.
