This project involved the complete interior renovation of a physical therapy hospital wing into a dedicated pediatric unit. The environment of a pediatric hospital can have as much impact on young patients and families as the medical treatments they receive. Because patients often face long-term stays, the focus of this project was to bring nature indoors as a healing tool. The goal was to transform this wing of the medical facility into a colorful, playful and vibrant space for the children. Whimsical features include a new atrium playground, corridors that emulate a park path, structural columns disguised as trees, and a water-themed toddler therapy area with bubble windows and a lighthouse. Nurse station cabinetry is finished to imitate an abstract landscape with playful bug-shaped pendants floating above.
