DETAILS / MERIT

Entry Name: Camp Maha Bath House
Firm: Bahr Vermeer Haecker Architects
Owner: Great Plains Girl Scouts
Photographer: Tom Kessler

The design of the building focused on creating a simple, functional building which was expressive of the environmental features without becoming obtrusive in the woodland environment. Wood was chosen for its ability to relate to the surrounding forest. Split-faced concrete masonry with a natural finish was chosen as a durable material to create a solid visual base for the wood structure to grow out of.

Jury Comments: The meticulous joinery on this bathhouse creates a perfect balance and contrast with its setting.
